He has been hailed as “a tradition in himself”. Musician, singer, songwriter, Andy has maintained his highly individual performing skills throughout his 45 year career. From Sweeney’s Men in the mid 60s, to the enormous success of Planxty in the 70s and then from Patrick Street to Andy Irvine & Dónal Lunny’s Mozaik, Andy has been a world music pioneer and an icon for traditional music and musicians. Junior Johnson ‘Honey Bee’ Live @ The Cellar Bar Draperstown

Junior Johnson sings his origional song ‘Honey Bees’ live @ The Cellar Bar Draperstown during The Ard Ri Bands album launch night on the 6th July 2012 Irish troubadour Junior Johnson brews his own blend of moonshine combining Americana , Folk and the Blues. Junior subtly draws his influences from the greats (with hints of George Thorogood and Willie Nelson) Aiming high for 2010, and following his very well received EP ‘Stoned, Ripped, Twisted. Good People’ Junior is focusing on recording new material and gigging flat out. So far this year has brought Junior his own weekly show on Feile FM promoting indie music. Having just returned from a tour of the New England area of the USA in late 2009 with a bucketful of experiences and songs, Junior, and the raw, ready and effortlessly smooth band that support him, are chomping to be heard, and judging by the recent stint of gigs they’ve dusted, with great reason. Junior has shared the stage with the likes of Shane MacGowan (The Pogues), Frankie Miller’s Full House Band and has graced the Eagle’s Rock Tent at Glasgowbury for three consecutive years, gigging extensively all over in between. In 2006, Junior was honoured with the title of LA Music Awards Folk Artist of the year for his song, The Fireside, an honest detailing of the life that a once unfortunate friend now leads. This highly coveted acknowledgment was an achievement to further echo Junior’s raw talent as a solo artist. Since he was first played on BBC Radio in July 2005

Fighting With Wire – URSUS – Live @ The Cellar Bar Draperstown

Fighting With Wire perform ‘URSUS’ live @ The Cellar Bar Draperstown during a recent G-Session www.cellarbar.info www.glasgowbury.com www.myspace.com/fightingwithwire Fighting With Wire emerged from the ever creative Northern Ireland music scene in 2003, the brainchild of guitarist Cahir O’Doherty (Jetplane Landing / Clearshot) and drummer Craig McKean (Clearshot). An idealistic bunch, they’ve since done what rock bands are meant to do: they wrote a bunch of songs, and took to the road. The last three years has seen them play shows with the likes of Reuben, Biffy Clyro, Million Dead, Seafood, YCNI:M and Future Of The Left, racking up hundreds of miles and honing their live show into a ferocious explosion in the process. After putting out a number of limited edition DIY singles, they took a breather at the end of 2006 and finally started work on their long-awaited debut album. Recorded in Northern Ireland and finally completed in mid-2007, Man Vs Monster is a dynamic beast of a record — raging out of your speakers one moment yet gentle and intricate the next, and all without losing focus of what’s important: the song. 2008 was a huge year as we saw the band record two Maida Vale sessions for BBC Radio 1, as well as the release of their first two singles from the Man Vs Monster album; ‘Everyone Needs A Nemesis’, which reached number 1 on the MTV Myspace chart, and ‘All For Nothing’. The year also brought performances at a number of high-profile festivals, including Leeds

Oxjam – The Dead Presidents – Live @ The Cellar Bar Draperstown

The Dead Presidents perform live @ The Cellar Bar Draperstown The Dead Presidents, they’re fresh, they’re funky, they’re soulful but they’re seasoned, an unusual quality in a band barely out of their teens. Having played with the likes of Phil Coulter, Damien Dempsey, Glen Hansard and Thin Lizzy legends Brian Robertson and Eric Bell, these boys know their music and they know how to play it” Edel Fitzgerald – Cork Evening Standard (Still have this bit up at the top , but have it in red like the other quotes, it’s like a bookend if you get me) In August of 2009 with a shared love of Funk,Rock,Soul and Jazz Anthony Stuart(drums), Tom Downey(Guitar) and Matthew Wilson(vox) came together to form the Dead Presidents. In 2010 this noisy little trio expanded to seven with the addition of Joe Mcquillan on bass and the Brassholes otherwise known as Jenny Putt(trumpet), james Doherty (trombone)and matt houston(Sax). AS OF 2011 with a years hard playing behind them the Dead Presidents have become one of the funkiest live bands out there; They have a groove that could fill any pocket, a vocal that belongs on a best of Motown compilation, alongside a guitar sound that borders on the spiritual. Last and by no means least is a brass section that would make the late James Brown ‘The Godfather of Soul’ sit bolt upright in his funeral casket. In short, The Dead Presidents are a brass, heavy Funk Rock Powerhouse . For a band that’s in its relative infancy their unique brand of uplifting and

Sons Of Caliber – 3 – Live @ The Cellar Bar Draperstown

Sons of Caliber evoke a sound once narrated as an echo from time’s past, and a sensation from time’s present. ‘Music for folks’ it has been rendered. From time spent in the North Carolina mountains, Andrew Farmer’s manifesto was birthed : fusing the rhythm of his Northern Irish home land with a beat from the Bible belted South. Expect a melodic journey of innocence, the kind where lyrics fall from his sleeve and you slowly leave your chair for home, tunefully content. Acoustical? Yes, for the most part, instruments of the earthy nature, Sons of Caliber emerge from the woods to tell you tales of Irish wolves and starry nights. Sons of Caliber started their journey in January 2011 when Stephen George Williams traveled to Northern Ireland form Georgia USA. He and I had worked together before but not on such a great project. We combined our songs and styles and hit the local scene with zeal and fervor playing every hole in the hedge. After five months of camaraderie and relentless gigging Stephen flew back to America to look after business and the torch passed to me to carry on the dream. The band has now grown to a five piece folk troupe of dear friends and great musicians. We have played Open House Festival, supported Nathaniel Rateliff, and are currently in the throws of recording our debut EP. sonsofcaliber.bandcamp.com www.cellarbar.info

Rachel Austin – All That I Lose – Live @ The Cellar Bar Draperstown

Rachel Austin performs ‘All That I Lose’ live @ The Cellar Bar Draperstown By the age of seven, Rachel Austin had already recorded three full-length cassette tapes of her own music. She’d also handwritten a book of short stories and created portraits of townful of characters that she and her siblings played with instead of dolls. Was it the home schooling in the Blue Ridge Mountain hollow that enabled her imagination to remain playful and free? For that describes Rachel’s music, too. Rachel’s music was born in Virginia and has taken her around the USA and Europe. Because of her musical friendships in these places — including her current hometown of Belfast, Northern Ireland — she’s been blessed with a rotating band of international musicians. This gives her live concerts a different flavour wherever she performs. As for influences, the first were probably the constant flowing of Naked Creek outside her open window, the hush of summer nights gazing at stars, the transcendence of church worship. She is currently inspired by Regina Spektor, Wovenhand, David Bazan, and her friend, Devon Sproule. He took that stale old crusty bread, and he remembered the rusty nails in their box, and those shoes that don’t fit, that bell that won’t ring, yeah, he took them, when he took everything. Allie Bradley Sings ‘Sincerity’ at the Building Pictures EP Launch in The Cellar Bar Draperstown. Oct 2010 Singer/songwriter Allie Bradley began singing and playing guitar at age eight. “My dad bought me my first six string and my cousin taught me four chords and that was it. Through her teenage years, she performed as a solo singer competing in Irish Traditional singing competitions. Having grown up in a musical family, Allie sang both as a solo performer and also as a member of a ballad who went on to represent Derry in an All Ireland Singing competition. After winning the All Ireland Scor Na nOg in 2003 for solo singing Allie began writing and performing her own music, heavily influenced by the traditional music she listened to growing up but also more contemporary artists such as Jeff Buckley, Alanis Morrisette, Lauryn Hill and John Mayer to name but a few. Allie continued to compose perform and record all her work at home from an early age using whatever was at hand (usually a tape recorder!). In 2009 Allie met fellow singer songwriter & labelmate Aaron Shanely and began to collaborate with him on some of his recordings.
