Long time rural rambler and urban songster Conor O’Kane has been playing his own style of irish blues gypsy punk for many years in Ireland, Britain and Europe. He currently plays Banjo and Mandola with The Ard Ri Band, and is a regular feature on Beatnik Soul nights in Derry and beyond. In the last couple of years as Teknopeasant he has appeared with The Black Diamond Heavies, Scott H Biram, The Bonnevilles, D-66, Bob Log 111, Hillstomp, The Balkan Alien Sound, The Morgan O’Kane Band, The Oilskins, Heat Lightning and the Pine Hill Haints. Recent festivals include Foyle Folk Festival, Glasgowbury and The Savage Kick Rock ‘n’ Roll festival. He runs the Liberty Tree Folk Club in Derry, a monthly night which has so far featured artists like Johnny Moynihan, Al O’Donnell, Tara Connaghan, Jimmy McEldowney and Mikel Markez. When not playing as Teknopeasant or with Ard Ri he plays Irish Traditional sessions in Donegal, teaches people to grow organic vegetables, and makes powerful home-brew wine.
